END OF THE WORLD

The FIFA 2010 World Cup, the first to be held in Africa came to an end this evening with the spaniards winning the trophy in extra time by a fine half volley from Iniesta.  Goes without saying the tournament hosted in South Africa has been a major success in every respect and the impact and legacy will be positive and ever lasting.

In terms of the calibre, entertainment value and overall technical quality of the football played was poor. I have personally been very disappointed considering the nature and scale of such a sporting event, the biggest on the planet that comes around every 4 years and triumphs every other. None of the so called world class players turned up and the drama with the french squad, a bunch of grown highly paid professional footballers was embarrassing to say the least. The only time I have genuinely witnessed such tantrums was at a nursery.

Any how, this is my take on the good, bad and ugly in summary:
